Black History Month 2022
Arts & Sciences student Donovan Satchell (above) was crowned as the first Black homecoming king in the history of Texas Tech University (Oct. 9, 2021). A Global Studies major in the Department of Political Science, Satchell serves as a President's Select ambassador, president of the College of Arts & Sciences ambassadors, and director of development for TTU's Student Government Association.
"As a celebration of Black excellence, Black History Month is a reminder of the achievements
and struggles of Black trailblazers. A time to reflect on the influence that Black
America has had on society, remembering the freedom fighters of yesterday and uplifting
the innovators of tomorrow."
—Donovan A. Satchell
