Scholarship Review Process

Application Review & Award Process

  • Arts & Sciences scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis. Applications, which students must submit online at the TTU Scholarship Office by February 1, are screened and ranked by two committees.
  • In April, offer letters are sent to students whose applications were selected for scholarships. Letters are mailed to the address the student has entered online at the TTU Scholarship Office. The offer letter explains the terms of the scholarship and includes required acceptance materials. In order to receive their scholarships, students must complete and submit an acceptance form and a thank you letter by the due date indicated in the offer letter.
  • Students who are residents of other states or other countries may be eligible for in-state tuition rather than out-of-state tuition if they receive TTU scholarships worth $1,000 or more. Thus, in general, students who are from some place other than Texas should request an out-of-state waiver on the scholarship acceptance form. Questions about this matter and about any other non-academic aspects of scholarships should be directed to the Texas Tech University Financial Aid Office.
  • The College does not mail scholarship checks to recipients. After a student has been given approval to receive a college scholarship and has met the terms of the award, the College of Arts and Sciences will authorize the transfer of funds from the college's scholarship accounts to the student's account. Students can view their accounts on-line or can talk to an advisor in the Financial Aid Office to verify that the Arts and Sciences scholarship has been applied to their accounts.
  • The number of scholarships that can be awarded may vary from year to year depending on the availability of funds.

    Giving Back

Each year, we have many more deserving students than we have scholarships. Anyone who would like to talk about contributing toward scholarships should contact the College of Arts & Sciences Development Office. We are deeply grateful to all of our donors.
