Becoming an Engineering Diplomat

What We Do

Members of the Engineering Diplomats will represent the interests and policies of the WCOE regarding international programming opportunities. Diplomats will assist the WCOE in promoting and recruiting students for international programs.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for engineering students who have participated in a TTU approved international experience, and who are willing to help, orient and recruit other WCOE students who are required to go abroad. To become a Diplomat, you must be passionate about sharing with your peers the benefits and experiences you gained while going abroad and how the experiences positively impacted your life, academics, and future career.

If you always said that going abroad was one of the best experiences in your life; have leadership and communication skills; then, you must want to become an Engineering Diplomat.

• $750 scholarship each semester

• Gaining public speaking and other relevant professional development experience
• Sharing your experience abroad

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in the Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering
• Overall GPA of at least 3.0
• Participated in a TTU approved international experience
  
  

Previous International Experience

At the time your application is received, you must have completed at least one long semester as an undergraduate student in the Whitacre College of Engineering and completed an international experience. Pre-Engineering and Graduate students are not eligible to apply.

Application

The application consists of your résumé and an essay. Your résumé and essay must be in PDF format. Your résumé must be presentable and preferably one-page. Please write a one to two page essay addressing the following questions:

• Describe your international experience and how it affected you.
• Explain why you are qualified to be an Engineering Diplomat.
• To conclude your essay, write a short paragraph highlighting something unique about you.
