Christa Ward

Biography
Dr. Christa Ward is a senior lecturer in the College of Media and Communication. Christa is a former Red Raider, having earned her BA in Telecommunications and Russian Language and Area Studies, as well as her MA in Mass Communication, from Texas Tech. She earned her Ph.D. in Philosophy with a concentration in Mass Communication from the University of Iowa.
Dr. Wardis an award-winning teacher who has overseen student-run television newscasts. She has also taught writing for broadcast, writing and producing, mass communication theory, social media, and marketing classes in both traditional and online environments and has served on numerous thesis, doctoral, and service committees.
In addition to her teaching, when she has spare time, Dr. Ward consults agencies and individual professionals on research methods and social media strategy. Her clients have included businesses and/or individuals who represent various spaces, from generational startups to small businesses to Fortune 500 telecommunication executives. She has used her expertise in conducting in-depth interviews, constructing survey instruments, and soliciting participants to synthesize information and help her clients make sense of their data and meet overall business objectives.
Dr. Ward is very interested in the growing impact of AI. To feed her interests, she reads books, blogs, and journal articles and participates in webinars on the impact of AI in ethics, healthcare, sports, news, and fashion.
Christa is also a fitness junkie. If you ever see her and ask her to drop and give you 20 pushups, she probably will!
