Biography
Sydney Elaine Brammer is a doctoral candidate in the College of Media & Communication. She is an avid storyteller, content creator, and learner. Whether it's through interactions with her students or assisting in research, she enjoys contributing to the field of Communication Studies and being a part of the Texas Tech University community.
Research
Sydney is a media and communications researcher dedicated to investigating the ins
and out of relationships of all kinds and the ways that people use media to advocate
express opinions, and tell stories that matter. As it is put in one of her favorite
TED talks, “The Power of Vulnerability” by Dr. Brené Brown, “maybe stories are just
data with a soul. And maybe I'm just a storyteller” (2010). She performs a mix of
qualitative and quantitative work, but her end goal is always to give meaning to the
data and speak to communication events in relevant, applicable ways.
