How to Apply to the Communication Studies Master's Program

Applying to the Communication Studies (COMS) Master's Program means that you will be submitting forms and materials to the Texas Tech Graduate School.

Application Process

Here are the step you need to follow to apply:

  1. Fill out the graduate school application at https://ttugradschool.force.com/admissions/ApplicationLogin.
     
    You will be asked to upload or input the folllowing:
    -CV/Resume
    -Personal Statement
    -An academic writing sample
    -Responses to open-ended questions regarding your experiences, career goals, and any honors/awards received
  2. Ask three current or former professors to recommend you to the program. The online system will ask you to enter the email addresses of your recommenders. They will have the opportunity to evaluate you quantitatively and will be asked to upload a letter of recommendation. Their letters must be uploaded into the system, not emailed to the Graduate Director or department.
  3. The GRE is optional through Summer 2025. Please upload TOEFL scores (if required) and official transcripts from all institutes of higher education that you have attended. You may also be prompted to mail some of those materials in to the Graduate School. The application portal will provide details.

Application Deadlines

Application Deadlines: Admissions are rolling.

US-based students should apply a minimum of 45 days prior to preferred start date. International applicants are encouraged to apply a minimum of four months prior to the preferred start date.
