Dear Red Raider Family,
Over the last year, we've rallied together as a university community to overcome many challenges. We transitioned to virtual teaching and learning in the spring while adapting our campus for our return a few months later. Our days are full of Zoom calls and discussions of social distancing and vaccine timelines, things we hadn't given much thought to just a year ago. As they always have, Red Raiders persevered.
Our community has remained steadfast, committed to our goals as a leading public institution of higher education and research. We crossed the 40,000-student milestone, an effort more than ten years in the making, through the growth in our first-generation and rural student populations. We continue to grow our national research reputation, with a new benchmark of more than $192 million in total research expenditures. Our students won national championships in law advocacy, personal financial planning, and meat judging, and our chess team was named U.S. Chess Program of the Year.
The university is grateful to all of our students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and community members who worked together to support the Texas Tech experience. The members of our Class of 2020, with their incredible life experiences and perspective, will shape the future of our world.
Sincerely,
Matt Dewey
Chief Marketing & Communication Officer
