Preserving Liberty – Part 2

Research/Academic Showcase. In 2001, Elizabeth Louden, professor of architecture, led a team of architects and students from Texas Tech’s Historic Preservation Program to produce a set of measured drawings depicting the exterior of the statue of liberty.

Louden, leading a second team of students and professors, returned to Liberty Island in June to capture structural features such as the pedestal and feet that researchers could not record during the first visit. [read more]

Howard Hughes Medical Institute Gives $1.5 Million to Texas Tech’s Science Education Program

Research/Academic Showcase. The Howard Hughes Medical Institute Science Education Program received a four-year $1.5 million grant in June. The money will help organizers continue an undergraduate research program for students like Octavio Aguilera.

Texas Tech was one of four Texas universities and 50 universities nationwide to receive a Howard Hughes Medical Institute grant to support undergraduate research. This is the fifth consecutive grant for TTU since the program began in 1992. [read more]
