Texas Tech University's Office of Continuing & Professional Education is a Texas Eligible Training Provider.


Many of our online, non-credit career training courses enhance job readiness and create a career pathway* for eligible students. Some of these training programs lead to industry-based certifications. Our courses are designed to help people with significant barriers to employment into high-quality jobs and careers and help employers hire and retain skilled workers.

Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)

On November 26, 2019, the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) approved the required Four-Year Combined State Plan for the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) covering program years 2020–2023, for posting for public comment. WIOA is designed to help job seekers and workers connect to good jobs and acquire the skills and credentials needed to obtain them; and secure the employment, education, training and support services necessary to succeed in the labor market.

Here are two of the WIOA core programs:

  • Adult, dislocated worker, and youth programs under Title I of WIOA
  • Vocational Rehabilitation Services under Title IV of WIOA
