First-Gen Week

Note: First-Gen Week is open to all Students, Faculty & Staff


How does TTU define a First Generation College Student? A Student is considered First-Generation in College (FGC) when neither parent(s) or guardian(s) has earned a bachelor's degree in the United States.

For Faculty

  1. Share First-Gen Week marketing info with your faculty colleagues and encourage them to invite their students
  2. Incorporate First-Gen Week activities into a class participation or extra credit grade
  3. Upload the First-Gen Week marketing info to your Blackboard course sections
  4. Share First-Gen Week marketing on your department's social media and/or newsletters
  5. RSVP and attend the First-Gen Champions Institute on Friday, November 12th

For Staff

  1. Invite your student groups to participate
  2. Add First-Gen Week marketing info to your programs event calendar
  3. Incorporate this event into your program's checklist or expectation
  4. Share First-Gen Week marketing on your department's social media and/or newsletters
  5. RSVP and attend the First-Gen Champions Institute on Thursday, November 12

For Students

  1. Plan your First-Gen Week experience
  2. Bring a friend to events with you
  3. Share materials with Student Org E-board to share out
