Jade Silva Tovar
Jade Silva Tovar is a higher education administrator with thirteen years of experience committed to a student centered and assets-based approach to creating inclusive and equitable systems for campus environments. In her current role, she serves as the Senior Director of the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Texas Tech University. In this role she is leading the student facing transformational experiences and services for the division while serving in multiple capacities collaborating with campus partners. Jade joined Texas Tech University in August 2018 from Arizona State University and is an alumna of ASU earning a Masters of Education in Higher Education Administration with research on the Academic Success of African American Engineering Students at ASU. Her areas of experience include organizational development and service implementation, strategic planning, intersectional identity development, student development, building inclusive communities, student engagement, leadership development, entrepreneurial mindset, and grant management.
Jade worked across four campus locations in Student and Cultural Engagement/International Student Engagement at Arizona State University and in the Fulton Schools of Engineering in Student Engagement where she oversaw the National Academy of Engineering Grand Challenge Scholars Program, managed three engineering centers including an innovation hub, Engineering Projects in Community Service, taught introduction to leadership course, leadership development of engineering students and diversity and inclusion initiatives. Jade earned a Bachelors of Arts from the University of Iowa, having studied abroad at the Universidad Nacional in Heredia, Costa Rica. She has served on various state and national committees and boards to include: NASPA 2020 Annual Conference Innovation sub-committee, Arizona NASPA, Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Inc. Board of Directors, and the Iowa Latino/a/x Summit.
