Miriam is excited to serve as one of the First Gen Transition and Mentoring Administrators. Miriam was born and raised in Heidelberg, Germany, but has called Lubbock her home for the past 9 years. Miriam received her Bachelor of Arts & Sciences in Psychology from Abilene Christian University and a Master of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from Texas Tech University. Miriam has completed all but the dissertation for a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies at Texas Tech University. During graduate school, her research focused on gender norms and parent-child communication about sexual assault among college students, as well as early childhood literacy among low-income families. As a graduate student assistant, I worked with the East Lubbock Promise Neighborhood and the TTU Gender Equity Council.

Sasha Gonzalez will be graduating soon with her Master of the Higher Education Administration at Texas Tech. During her time at TTU, she was involved in President's Select, Hispanic Student Society, URec Intramurals, and found that these programs offered me the opportunity to succeed as a First-Gen student. She hopes to continue to contribute to the progression in serving First-Gen students like herself and work together to make the First-Gen campus experience exceptional.
