Texas Tech University

Coronavirus Update for Current and Prospective Teacher Candidates: March 12, 2020

Dear student,

We know that you have questions about how advising and other processes in the College of Education will be impacted by COVID-19 virus. We have prepared the following responses for you. If you have further questions, please feel free to communicate with us. In addition, the college has developed a website where we will post updated information.

Beginning March 16, all advising appointments will be handled electronically. If you have a currently scheduled appointment, your advisor will call you at the scheduled time. If your information is not accurate in the TTU Banner system, please be sure to update via Raiderlink. If you need to schedule an appointment, please continue to do as normal. If you prefer to be able to speak in a face-to-face format, your advisor can schedule a Zoom or Skype meeting.

If you are currently in TechTeach completing field experience or student teaching, you will continue to go to your placement as usual following the district schedule. We will continually monitor the situation, and we will provide updates if your district cancels classes or changes schedule.

If you are seeking admission to TechTeach, please note:

  • If you have not completed the interview for admission, please continue to schedule via SignUpGenius as usual. You will be contacted via phone, Zoom or Skype to complete the interview. Again, please make sure your information is accurate in Raiderlink.
  • Unfortunately, we are required to cancel any group meetings for the PACE exam. Once the university updates decisions and we are able to host open exams, we will reschedule. Please note, your admission to the program is not in jeopardy due to the delay. However, this is still a requirement for admission. We will keep you informed.
  • TechTeach admission workshops are still moving forward but will be changed to an electronic format. Please look for an email from your advisor with a link to the workshop. You will need access to a laptop or computer to view the session and communicate with the advisors.

Sincerely,

College of Education Advising Team
