Texas Senate Bill 1470

Texas Senate Bill 1470 was filed March 12, 2015, unanimously voted out of the Senate committee on Higher Education April 13, 2015, and passed by the Senate April 16, 2015. The bill is now awaiting action by the House.

Senate Bill 1470 is specifically designed to allow Texas to join the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA). After Texas joins NC-SARA, Texas Tech University will be able to apply to become a NC-SARA member institution. By joining NC-SARA, the state authorization process will become easier in NC-SARA member states which will benefit our students and allow them to do internships in the member states.

Currently, Texas Tech may conduct 100% only online activities in 47 other states without seeking additional authorization. Becoming a member of NC-SARA would allow Texas institutions of higher education to conduct a variety of activities in other member states without having to seek additional authorization.
