Dr. Justin Louder Gives Thoughts on Distance Ed in New Blackboard White Paper

Associate Vice Provost for Texas Tech University eLearning & Academic Partnerships, Justin Louder, Ed.D., was recently interviewed by Blackboard Inc. to collect information for a new report exploring the future of higher education.

Based on in-depth interviews with Dr. Louder, along with 12 other higher education thought leaders, the white paper "Future Forward: The Next Twenty Years of Higher Education" is being released in conjunction with Blackboard's 20th anniversary. To compile this new resource, Blackboard asked U.S. higher education leaders to share their insights into what the higher education institution of the future will look like; how other industries will influence higher education; how technology will enable change in the way learning is delivered and assessed; and a variety of other topics.

The key themes of the interviews are detailed in the white paper and include:

  • The current higher education system being unsustainable and not suited for a globally connected world that is constantly changing.
  • Colleges and universities having to change their current business models to continue thriving and growing in enrollment.
  • New technologies allowing faculty to shift their focus to the applications of learning rather than simply acquiring knowledge.
  • Data and the ability to transform that data into action being the new lifeblood of higher education institutions.
  • The hearts and souls of institutions being its people and working with faculty and staff to change institutional cultures.

In the white paper, Dr. Louder thoughtfully answers seven questions and gives his thoughts on technological developments in the field of distance education, the importance of equipping faculty with the tools that they need to teach effectively, the use of data to help students succeed and more.

TTU eLearning & Academic Partnerships is very proud of Dr. Louder and his ongoing efforts towards the innovation and evolution of the world of distance education.
