New Hires for Office of Continuing & Professional Education

eLearning & Academic Partnerships is happy to welcome two new employees to its unit, Frankie Gongora and Alex Garza to work within the Office of Continuing and Professional Education.

Alex is a business coordinator for eLearning & Academic Partnerships, joining the Texas Tech staff in July 2022. He will be coordinating and strengthening the partnership between the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) and Texas Tech University. Having grown up in Shallowater, he has been a longtime admirer of Texas Tech, as well as a big fan of all things Red Raiders. He is looking forward to helping advance the university and its goals in any way he can to help inspire the next generation of Red Raiders.

Having served in the U.S. Army from 2014 to 2019 as an airborne infantryman stationed at Ft. Bragg, N.C., he is a recent graduate of Texas Tech. Alex earned his B.B.A. with a focus on cybersecurity, as well as a data analytics certificate. He spends his free time taking his two German Shepherds to the park, going to the gym, and spending time with friends and family.

Art and design have always been Frankie's passion, but after he discovered what could be done on computers, he knew he wanted to pursue becoming a graphic designer. He has been serving the Texas Tech community more than a decade, beginning his journey at the Health Sciences Center Printing Center in 2011. He transferred to Human Resources in 2014 as a senior designer and photographer.

Frankie now serves as section coordinator for the Office of Continuing & Professional Education. One of his favorite things about working at Texas Tech is the time off and flexibility offered to all employees. Frankie is an avid video-gamer and has been doing it for over 40 years. Since 2021 he has taken up live streaming on the Twitch streaming service. He loves sports, martial arts, movies and also enjoys attending concerts and spending time with family and friends barbecuing or just hanging out.
