Texas, Boundary, Census
This layer contains the boundary of Texas with a generalized coastline. This layer also includes 2010 census attributes. This polygon file was designed for small to medium scale thematic mapping and analysis.
The spatial data originated from the US Census Bureau. Significant geoprocessing was performed to create a smooth coastline from the more detailed 1:500,000 US Census TIGER Texas boundary. A topology was used to close and fill gaps along the coast to create a more generalize coastline. Attributes were modified to include only county name, state abbreviation, population, area information, region, and FIPS code information. Demographic attributes were added from Census data and include population, age, gender, race, and household information. The coordinate system of this data is WGS 1984.
