Texas, Ecology
This layer contains the ecological provinces found in the state of Texas. This boundary file was designed for small to medium scale thematic mapping and analysis.
The spatial data were obtained from the US Department of Agriculture Forest Service. The data originated from the USDAFS US ecological province data. Attributes were modified to include only climate type, unit codes, unique province names, a province description, and geometry information about each province.
“The downloaded dataset includes polygons for ecological provinces within the conterminous United States. This data set contains regional geographic delineations for analysis of ecological relationships across ecological units. The downloaded data was in the .xml file format. The .xml file was imported into a GDB as a XML workspace document, where it was then converted into a Feature Class. The Feature Class was transformed from NAD 83 to WGS 84. The attributes and field names were cleaned and altered for easy understanding.” - USDAFS
