This layer contains the jurisdictional boundary of the US that extends up to 3.5 miles from the coastline. This layer also includes 2010 census attributes. This boundary file was designed for multi-scale thematic mapping and analysis.
The spatial data were obtained from the US Census Bureau and are current as of 2010. The US State Jurisdictional boundaries layer was downloaded from the Census Bureau website. Geoprocessing was performed to dissolve each state boundary to create one file for the nation. Attributes were modified to include state name, abbreviation, FIPS, region, and area information. Demographic attributes include population, age, gender, race, and household information. The coordinate system of this data is WGS 1984.
