Summary

This layer contains shale plays located within Texas. This boundary file is intended for small scale thematic mapping. 

Description

            

The spatial data were obtained from the US Energy Information Agency and are current as of 2011. Sources for the basins are mostly from the US Geological Survey and state agencies. Attributes were modified to include basin, shale play, shale age, current designation, and reference. The coordinate system of this data is WGS 1984.
