Summary 

This layer contains natural wilderness areas protected by the Federal Government in the US. This polygon file is intended for medium to large scale thematic mapping and analysis.

Description 

            

              

                

                  

                    The spatial data were obtained from the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service. This file contains parcels of Forest Service land congressionally designated as wilderness, such as National Wilderness Areas. The attributes were modified to include wilderness ID, area ID, name, and boundary status. The coordinate system of this data is WGS 1984.
