Summary 

This layer contains major railroad networks around the world. This polygon file is intended for large scale thematic mapping and analysis.

Description 

            

              

                

                  

                    The spatial data were obtained from Natural Earth. The “basic” railroads at 10m scale are from CEC North America Environmental Atlas with no attributes and only 1 scale rank class. Attributes were modified to include railroad ID, multi-track designation, electric designation, category, disp_scale, featureclass, scalerank, natlscale, and continent.. The coordinate system of this data is WGS 1984.
