in Marble Falls

The Texas Tech University Regional Teaching Site at Highland Lakes offers the TechTeach Across Texas program in the Hill Country. TechTeach is a teacher education program for students wishing to teach middle school math (grades 4-8) or elementary (through 6th grade) in Marble Falls Independent School District.

The TechTeach Across Texas 2+1 program is a one-year, clinically-intensive program in which students complete a Bachelor's degree and earn elementary teacher certification (through grade 6) with additional certifications available in ESL, Special Education, Bilingual Education and Middle School Math. Texas Tech is partnered with Central Texas College in Marble Falls, where students can complete the pre-requisites for admission.

Admission requirements are:

  • Associate of Arts in Teaching Degree
  • 2.75 Overall Transfer GPA
  • 63-66 transfer hours (in accordance with junior college articulation agreement)
  • Foreign Language (2 years of high school, 2 semesters of college-level or CLEP)

Teacher Candidates complete most TechTeach coursework online while simultaneously student teaching in Marble Falls ISD. They receive extensive coaching from skilled Mentor Teachers and are supervised by a highly-qualified Site Coordinator.
