University Student Housing at Texas Tech University promotes each student's learning experience by creating safe, supportive learning environments for academic and personal success. University Student Housing is committed to the total development of the resident within an inclusive community through student leadership opportunities, programming, residence hall standards, and supportive learning environments in the residence halls.

The Residence Life Coordinator (RLC), as an educator, works to provide direction for student learning and academic success by managing/co-managing a residence hall and coordinating the administrative, supervisory, and programmatic efforts for an educational area of one to three buildings housing 500 – 1,100 students. As a live-in staff member of University Student Housing, the Residence Life Coordinator is responsible for the development of comfortable living and learning communities that foster academic success. This is achieved by assisting individuals with their personal needs and concerns, supervising student support staff, and advising student leadership groups.

What do you love most about Texas Tech?

This institution is such a welcoming atmosphere to work at. On top of that there is so much pride here and it doesn't just stay with the students it extends to everyone even the community. I haven't met someone from here yet who doesn't bleed red and black for this institution yet.

What aspects of your position do you enjoy most?

I enjoy working with students and the impacts I can make in their lives as they embark or continue their college career

How would you describe the University Student Housing Department to a potential candidate?

USH is a huge department with lots of people but one the very unique qualities is that its like a family. You will have people you see on a daily basis and you will be close with. You will also have the people you don't see to often but here at USH the sheer amount of friendliness and teamwork I have never experienced anything like it

What are some things you enjoy about living in Lubbock, Texas?

Lubboock is great there are plenty of things to do. Being an outdoors person there are plenty of outdoor adventures that can be had relatively close. There are plenty of places to shop and eat as well. In my time here I have yet to wish there was something here because it isnt here.

I love the school pride found here at Texas Tech. Students are invested in the university along with the staff. You can quickly feel like you are part of a family.

What aspects of your position do you enjoy most?
I enjoy working with students staff. We create amazing programs to help engage our student body. It is rewarding for me to see and hear students learn and have fun.

How would you describe the University Student Housing Department to a potential candidate?
University Student Housing here at Texas Tech is willing to bring fresh thinkers and innovators onto their staff. You are always being taught not only through solid training practices but through exposure to amazing colleagues and supervisors.

What are some things you enjoy about living in Lubbock, Texas?
Lubbock is a big laid back town. It is easy to find something to do that is family-friendly and even easier to find a good plate of food.

I love the welcoming atmosphere-- the staff here have a real bond and come together to accomplish great things. That atmosphere has made my transition here easier.

I enjoy my coworkers. I think everyone has a work-hard/play-hard mentality that is a joy to be a part of.

How would you describe the University Student Housing Department to a potential candidate?

USH really cares. We care about each other and our students. That, combined with some unparalleled customer service, makes USH feel like a home away from home.

What are some things you enjoy about living in Lubbock, Texas?

I love the local shop scene. From cupcake bakeries to coffee shops to board game stops, there are so many hidden gems in Lubbock!

What do you love most about Texas Tech?

People at Texas Tech, both students and employees, have so much pride for being here and for this University. It's so energizing to work in an environment where people are excited to show up! Everywhere you look there is red, black, guns up and double T's -- pride is just part of the culture here, and I love it.

What aspects of your position do you enjoy most?

I love working with the amazing students and leaders here at Tech. Students at Texas Tech are driven, and it's so exciting to support them and the future they are building.

How would you describe the University Student Housing Department to a potential candidate?

I love working with the amazing students and leaders here at Tech. Students at Texas Tech are driven, and it's so exciting to support them and the future they are building. University Student Housing here is a family. Everyone, regardless of position, cares so much about the work they do and the people they work with and serve, and it shows. It's a department that makes me excited to go to work each day, and as a young professional I feel supported in every way.

What are some things you enjoy about living in Lubbock, Texas?

I absolutely love Lubbock! Lubbock is full of art, music, great places to shop and eat, and great people; overall, it's just a really fun place to live. I also being outside, and there are so many awesome places to explore within a short driving distance.

What do you love most about Texas Tech?

I absolutely love the community at Tech. I can see people from more than 5 years ago and we'll easily be able to chat as if it hasn't been more than a day. It's an incredibly vibrant community.

What aspects of your position do you enjoy most?

I love being able to work with my staff and to watch them grow as leaders. I also really enjoy introducing students to new opportunities on campus.

How would you describe the University Student Housing Department to a potential candidate?

USH is a family in every way. From our leadership team to our student staff, I never feel uncomfortable asking questions or just talking with others in the department, and it's easy to make lifelong connections here.

What are some things you enjoy about living in Lubbock, Texas?

Lubbock has an incredible food selection, I've never been short of options here. I also love the size of the city, it's large enough to have brands and local stores like a large city, but small enough to still form a tight community here.

The school spirit everyone has at Tech is very special. Whether you are walking or driving on campus, you see Texas Tech everywhere! The entire campus as a whole is amazing to just explore. We have endless opportunities here at Tech for all who want to be part of the family!

What aspects of your position do you enjoy most?

I enjoy building relationships with students and hearing about their educational and professional goals. I also enjoy seeing growth and development in our students as they become more involved, not only in their studies but getting involved in campus activities here at Texas Tech!

How would you describe the University Student Housing Department to a potential candidate?

One large welcoming family and student centered. Everyone is here to help and support each other no matter their job title. We are all here for each other, but most importantly, we have the same vision for serving our students. Everyone wants the best for our students and each other. That is something you hear and see every day.

What are some things you enjoy about living in Lubbock, Texas?

The amount of things to explore in Lubbock is amazing. There is so much to do. There are places to visit right off campus or there are places to visit that are across town. My favorite thing to do is to get out and just see the community supporting Texas Tech. Restaurants, museums, parks or just the downtown area, you see Texas Tech everywhere!

University Student Housing is committed to the total development of the resident within an inclusive community through student government, programming, residence hall standards, and supportive learning environments in the residence halls.

The Residence Life Coordinator for Student Development (RLCSD), as an educator, works with the Assistant Director for Student Leadership Development to provide support for student leadership and development for residents living on the Texas Tech campus. The RLCSD is responsible for the advisement of assigned student leadership groups and associated events, conferences, and training while utilizing effective risk management and assessment practices.

What do you love most about Texas Tech?

The thing I love most is the amount of school spirit and pride. Everywhere you go on campus or within the Lubbock community, you can spot Double T's, see others giving the ‘Guns Up' signal, or see someone wearing Tech attire. It brings us all together as Red Raiders every day.

What aspects of your position do you enjoy most?

I love being able to work with energetic and dedicated student leaders on a daily basis. Helping students get involved in leadership roles, find their passion areas, and work towards creating a community within the residence halls are just a few of the things I enjoy about my job. Working with student leadership is always a rewarding adventure!

How would you describe the University Student Housing Department to a potential candidate?

USH is a very welcoming department! I served as an ACUHO-I intern during grad school and fell in love with the student-centered approach as well as the SERVE TECH customer service model. We work hard, play hard, and consider each other family.

What are some things you enjoy about living in Lubbock, Texas?

There are plenty of things to do to keep busy in Lubbock—more restaurants than you can imagine, museums, Prairie Dog Town, places to shop, volunteer opportunities, Moonlight Musicals, and the 4th on Broadway festival have been some of my favorite aspects!

What do you love most about Texas Tech?

I love the school's Culture and Spirit. It is easy to see how invested students are in the success of the University. I also really appreciate the family environment of the university and its different offices.

What aspects of your position do you enjoy most?

I enjoy being a part of my students\' educational journey. Developing the "holistic student" allows me to create enriching experiences that will provide students with the tools needed to be successful outside of the college environment.

How would you describe the University Student Housing Department to a potential candidate?

Besides being great facilitators of customer service, University Student Housing creates the warm feeling of being home!

What are some things you enjoy about living in Lubbock, Texas?

I love the fact that we are so close to many natural amenities (Palo Duro, Carlsbad Cavern). Lubbock is also a great place to enjoy different music genres, fantastic theater productions, great food, and sports.
