Dr. Nathan HarnessDr. Nathan Harness, PhD, CFP®, is the TD Ameritrade Director of Financial Planning   at Texas A&M University, a position he has held since January 1, 2015. Since 2013,   he has taught the Investment Planning, Retirement Planning, and the Financial   Planning Capstone courses in the Financial Planning curriculum. He has lectured both nationally and internationally on global financial risk, international investing, gender based asset preferences, and next generation planning.

He received his Bachelor's degree in Finance from the University of Central Arkansas. He  also holds a MS Degree in Finance and a Ph.D. in Personal Financial Planning from Texas  Tech University. He earned the CFP® designation in 2009.

Dr. Harness' research interests include personal financial ratio analysis, household heuristics and wealth accumulation, and individual stock selection. He is published in Applied Economic Letters, Financial Services Review, International Journal of Business and Finance Research, Journal of Financial Services Professionals, Financial Counseling and Planning, and the Journal of Personal Finance.

Nathan brings years of financial planning experience to Texas A&M University. Prior to joining the Texas A&M faculty, he taught graduate and undergraduate courses in the areas of investments and financial management at Texas A&M-Commerce, as well as serving as Executive Director of Global Programs. Before his appointment at TAMU-Commerce, he was a member of the faculty teaching financial planning at the University of Georgia in Athens.
