Course Overview:

The WSET Level 3 Award in Wines and Spirits Wine Education Class is designed to give a thorough understanding of the principal wines and spirits of the world and their commercial importance in the world's market. The wine classes will assist those who are required to make professional evaluations of wines and spirits with regards to their quality and commercial value. The wine classes provide the in-depth product knowledge required to underpin job skills and competencies, for example in product selection in the retail and hospitality sectors.

Who Should Attend?

This course is open to students who have passed the Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits. If you do not hold the Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits you may wish to take our Level 3 Novice to Professional Course in Wines which combines both qualifications.

All classes are delivered in English therefore a good level of English is beneficial.

What You'll Learn

  • The key factors in the production of wine: location, grape growing, winemaking, maturation and bottling
  • The key characteristics of the principal:
    • still wines of the world
    • sparkling wines of the world
    • fortified wines of the world
  • How to make appropriate wine recommendations
  • How to taste wines using the WSET Level 3 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT)

Entry Requirements

Students under the age of 21 are allowed to take the course and the exam, but are NOT allowed to sample any alcoholic beverages as part of their course.
