Membership & Structure:

Length of Term: 1 Year

Requirements of service: 

  • full time F-1 or J-1 student
  • been at TTU in Lubbock at least one academic year by the start of term of service
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA 
  • Must be in good academic and disciplinary standing with Texas Tech University.  

Structure:

  • Members are elected through voting by international student body
  • Members will be elected by their peers
  • SGC and SGA members apply (by September 23) for the opportunity, but do not need to be voted on by the entire international student body. Once elected members are determined, this elected group will select the SGA & SGC members.
  • Candidates are to make video messages in English. 
  • Though committee members may represent a given region, they still represent all international students and international student voters can vote on all members, not just those who are from the same region as them.
  • Not all positions that represent a region need to be filled, but it's important that those groups are represented and available to be filled.
  • Applications for membership open in September; voting open for 3-4 days in late September; first meeting in early October, & the year of service will be October through July.

Meeting regularity: 
Student committee members meet monthly during academic year and at least once over summer, with potential subcommittees meeting more regularly

Timeline for Fall 2021

Friday Sept 10 - Thursday Sept 23 Video Applications accepted
Tuesday Sept 21 - Thursday Sept 23 Review/Upload Videos
Friday Sept 24 Voting opens at 3 PM via online poll
Monday Sept 27th Voting Closes at 5 pm
Tuesday Sept 28th

Applicants will be notified of voting results

October 4th

Voting Process & How to Run for a Position

Students need to submit a video that is no longer than 3 minutes, and shares the following with their international student peers: 

  1. Why you are the best candidate for the position.
  2. How you are involved on campus and with the international student community.
  3.  Why you want to serve in this capacity.

Election Days:

Polling days will take place on September 24th - 27th.

In addition to the vote button below, International Student Life will send out the voting link via email and also publish it on social media over the voting period. It will also be the responsibility of those running to encourage thier peers to vote for them. Condider your networks within the international student body. Voting is for the international student body ONLY.

How to Submit Your Video Application:

  • Videos must be submitted in a Mp4 format, no longer than 3 minutes and in English. 
  • Use subject line "ISAC video App" and please include region you are running to represent. Please email all videos to Kathleen.cade-gerzon@ttu.edu. 
  • Videos must meet all above listed requirements and be submitted by the deadline of Sept 20th 2021.
