Passport to the World

International Education Week (IEW) is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This fall, the Office of International Affairs (OIA) and Texas Tech University will host its annual International Week activities October 8-13 with a diverse schedule of events, recognizing the work of its international scholars, highlighting the OIA's passport services during a "pop-up" event at the SUB, hosting the annual Middle America Universities International (MAUI) conference at the ICC, and ending the week with Culture Fest - a celebration of international food, cultures, music and family fun.

International Scholars' Brown Bag | October 9 | 12 - 1 PM

Please bring your lunch and join us as we engage with a small group of our International Scholars from China for a lunchtime conversation about research, cultural similarities and differences, and experiences that have shaped their thinking, research, teaching and practice. We will provide beverages and cookies.

We hope to see you and invite you to join the conversation as our Scholars reflect on their scholarship and lessons learned while here at Texas Tech University.

Passport Pop-Up | October 10 | 11 AM - 12 PM

  • Free Speech Area (West of TTU Student Union Building)

The Passport Office is one of the many campus and community services offered by the Office of International Affairs (OIA). During International Week, a representative from OIA will be hosting Passport Pop-Up in the Free Speech area of the SUB. Passport applications will be available and a representative will be on hand to answer any questions related to passports. In addition, a Global Security Specialist from the OIA will be available to offer travel tips to those traveling abroad or interested in international travel.

MAUI Conference (Invite Only*) | October 11 - 12

Middle America Universities International (or MAUI) is an exchange consortium that enables students from member universities to study at one of the other member institutions for a semester or academic year. There are 30 universities in 25 countries within Europe and 18 universities within 7 states across America. This partnership allows students from all over the world to participate in an academic exchange, without having to run into a 1:1 balance issue.

Texas Tech will be hosing the Fall 2018 MAUI Meeting on October 11th where representation from all 18 universities attending will discuss current trends, placements, site visits, and upcoming goals for the group. Dr. Sukant Misra, Vice Provost of International Affairs is the current President of MAUI

Culture Fest 2018 | October 13 | 11 AM - 2 PM

  • International Cultural Center, 601 Indiana Ave.

Join us for Culture Fest 2018 at the International Cultural Center on Saturday, October 13th in celebrating the diverse multicultural heritage of the international community at Texas Tech University.

Festival events include international music & dance, art projects, food, and family-friendly cultural activities.

This event is FREE and Open to the Public.

Partners include: Department of Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures, The Museum of Texas Tech University, The Center for Global Communication, and The Texas Tech University School of Music
