Día de los Muertos is a two-day holiday that originated in Mexico. Family members build ofrendas (alters) in their homes to honor their deceased loved ones. Vigils are held in cemeteries, where they celebrate the lives of those who have passed with gifts, food, flowers, and trinkets.
