Objectives:

Create connections to Texas Tech University community and students.
We strive to assist students to understand the wide variety of resources offered to them by the university. It is also important to create connections with domestic students. By communicating and creating these connections with domestic students, international students can better understand the American culture and adjust to cultural differences they may encounter with aid from new American friends. We host events with many different department from Texas Tech through out the year to educate international student on resources they can best utilize.
Create connections to international peers.
We encourage students to engage with other international students so as to diversity and learn more about new cultures while creating lasting friendships. We host a diverse community of international students with many international student orgs.
Create connections to the Lubbock community
Texas Tech is almost a city within itself. It can be easy to not leave campus of your general area, because all you need is located on campus. However there is an entire city outside Tech to explore! We strive to host events and volunteer opportunities through out the semester aimed at getting students off campus and exploring Lubbock. We have developed the Cultural Exchange Program in which international students are matched with a local family. Out local families are all volunteers who want to share Thier culture with our students. To learn more about becoming part of this program click here
Create connections to local and regional culture
Texas is a great BIG state! We have our own unique culture within the American culture. We take students on cultural explorations within Texas and nearby New Mexico. Some of these adventures include visiting, Palo Duro Canyon (the 2nd largest canyon in the US), Sante Fe (the capital city of New Mexico), The Texas State Fair, and more! We also hold cultural events on campus to familiarize and introduce local culture to students. Some of these events include Jack o' lantern carving, Line Dancing Lessons and Texas Cooking lessons.
