Summary: Public and private non-profit organizations meeting the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section 26 USC 501(c)(3) may submit proposals to conduct a four-week exchange program in the United States in summer 2019 for approximately 25 high school girls from Central Asia focused on promoting the high-level study of technology. Echoing the goals of the TechWomen program, TechGirls supports development in the field of technology and enables young women to reach their full potential in the technology industry. The program builds on the U.S. global commitment to advance the rights of women and girls around the world and promote science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education. This is a limited submission opportunity.

Combating Wildlife Trafficking in Latin America and the Caribbean

Summary: INL/C seeks to fund a project that builds Latin America's capacity to deter, detect, investigate, prosecute, and adjudicate wildlife poaching and trafficking cases. The scope includes the facilitative financial crimes (e.g. money laundering and corruption) that enable poaching and trafficking networks. The primary countries of engagement must include two or more of the following: Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, Guatemala, Belize, and Mexico. Additional countries in Latin America and the Caribbean may also be included.

Summary: The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The goal of this FIC R25 program is to support educational activities that foster a better understanding of biomedical, behavioral and clinical research and its implications, by strengthening research ethics capacity in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) through increasing the number of LMIC research intensive institutions that can provide advanced education in research ethics. Programs supported by this initiative will equip scientists, health professionals and academics in these countries with in-depth knowledge of the ethical principles, processes and policies related to international clinical and public health research. Programs should be designed to strengthen the critical competencies needed to provide research ethics education, ethical review leadership and expert consultation to LMIC researchers, their institutions, governments and international research organizations.

Summary: The purpose of this 4-year higher education activity is to increase Malawi's skilled, employable workforce by expanding access to higher education, especially for vulnerable populations by focusing on high-demand employment subjects and training programs for increased economic impact. The program will increase the opportunity for vulnerable girls to attend university or pursue open and distance learning short-term, certificate, diploma, and degree programs aligned to labor market demands.
