TTU-FAPESP SPRINT Program: Call for Proposals

The Sao Paulo Research Foundation (SPRINT) & Texas Tech University has announced the 2018 call for proposals for the exchange of faculty and postdoctoral researchers under the SPRINT 5th Edition 2018. FAPESP will provide funding of up to the equivalent of $5,000 per proposal per year and Texas Tech University will provide funding of up to $5,000 per proposal per year, for the duration of the grant (up to 24 months) to cover research-related mobility expenses. This call invites research proposals in all fields of knowledge. All questions related to this call for proposals must be directed to Ms. Reagan Ribordy, Director for International Programs, Office of International Affairs, at reagan.ribordy@ttu.edu.

Summary: The Political Science Program supports scientific research that advances knowledge and understanding of citizenship, government, and politics. Summary: The Economics program supports research designed to improve the understanding of the processes and institutions of the U.S. economy and of the world system of which it is a part. The Economics program welcomes proposals for individual or multi-investigator research projects, doctoral dissertation improvement awards, conferences, symposia, experimental research, data collection and dissemination, computer equipment and other instrumentation, and research experience for undergraduates. The program places a high priority on interdisciplinary research. Investigators are encouraged to submit proposals of joint interest to the Economics Program and other NSF programs and NSF initiative areas. The program places a high priority on broadening participation and encourages proposals from junior faculty, women, other underrepresented minorities, Research Undergraduate Institutions, and EPSCoR states. The program also funds conferences and interdisciplinary research that strengthens links among economics and the other social and behavioral sciences as well as mathematics and statistics.

Summary: This solicitation seeks innovation in Arctic observational networks and fundamental convergence research across the social, natural, environmental, and computing and information sciences, an engineering that address the intersection of natural, social, and built systems. NNA promotes initiatives that empower new research communities, diversifies the next generation of Arctic researchers, integrates the co-production of knowledge, and engages partnerships, particularly among international stakeholders. This NNA solicitation requests proposals that fall within the following tracks: Track 1 (Research Grants) and Track 2 (Planning Grants). To successfully address questions at the intersection between the natural environments, the built environment, and social systems, proposals are expected to be convergent in nature as defined by NSF, and the most competitive proposals will include expertise from multiple traditionally distinct and independent science and engineering disciplines.

Summary: The Divisions of Chemical, Bioengineering and Environmental Transport (CBET) and Civil, Mechanical, and Manufacturing Infrastructure (CMMI) in the Engineering Directorate of the National Science Foundation (NSF) are partnering with The Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS) to solicit research projects in the general fields of tissue engineering and mechanobiology that can utilize the International Space Station (ISS) National Lab to conduct research that will benefit life on Earth. Summary: Cultivating Cultures for Ethical STEM (CCE STEM) funds research projects that identify (1) factors that are effective in the formation of ethical STEM researchers and (2) approaches to developing those factors in all the fields of science and engineering that NSF supports. CCE STEM research projects will use basic research to produce knowledge about what constitutes or promotes responsible or irresponsible conduct of research, and how to best instill students with this knowledge. In some cases, projects will include the development of interventions to ensure responsible research conduct. This is a limited submission opportunity.

A MRSEC may be located at a single institution, or may involve multiple institutions in partnership, and is composed of up to three Interdisciplinary Research Groups, IRGs, each addressing a fundamental materials science topic aligned with the Division of Materials Research, DMR.
