This Seville-based Agriculture and Applied Economics study abroad program offers students an opportunity to live in an historic Spanish city and study futures and options. The program is designed to provide the students with a solid grounding and hands-on experience in futures and options trading for speculation, hedging, arbitrage, and spreading. An economic perspective will be used to analyze the functions and mechanics of the futures and options markets for commodities and financial instruments. Students will learn fundamental and technical analyses for predicting prices Students will also participate in a competitive futures trading simulation game tied to the real markets. The goal of the program is to integrate an understanding of futures and options markets into specific economic situations in order to improve the investment decision-making process. The program will include various field trips including a trip to the commodities exchange in Seville.
