In 2018, the Texas Tech Office of LGBTQIA Education & Engagement (Office) launched the LGBTQIA Faculty, Staff, and Graduate Student Association (FSGSA), which supports faculty, staff, and graduate students who identify as LGBTQIA through networking opportunities, social activities, and advocacy on issues important to the community.
Towards the end of the spring semester (2021), Q'nnections: A Group for LGBTQIA and Allied Emerging Professionals formed as an affinity group under the auspice of the FSGSA. This group is open to faculty, staff, administrators, and graduate students who either identify within the LGBTQIA community or as allies, and who have 5 years of experience or less in the field. The purpose of Q'nnections is to establish a place to hold brave and open conversations and to find a sense of belonging.
The FSGSA gathers monthly, usually during the evening beginning at 5:30 p.m., while Q'nnections typically gathers on a monthly basis during the lunchtime period. These meeting times are subject to change.
If you would like more information about the LGBTQIA FSGSA or would like to join, please e-mail Amy Prause.
