Texas Tech School of Music Presents:

“Sound of Lubbock” – Perform Out Loud!

The Texas Tech University (TTU) School of Music in collaboration with Lubbock Independent School District (LISD) invite all musicians in Lubbock, our students far and wide, and our neighbors to share in a moment of culture and burst into sound this Thursday, May 7 at 5:30 p.m. from our homes. We welcome everyone to perform at the same time along with the KTTZ (89.1 FM) broadcast. Please perform outside from your homes so we can hear Lubbock far and wide and our students in their homes everywhere playing instruments, singing, dancing or painting.

Observing social distance, join us from your yard, your balcony, your favorite spot in your home and let us surround ourselves and each other with the sound of Lubbock, together apart! We provide the sheet music and lyrics here: https://www.depts.ttu.edu/music/Sound_Of_Lubbock/soundoflubbock_media.php

Handel's Messiah piece “Hallelujah Chorus”

"God Bless America"

"All you need is love",

“Heal the World.”

Lubbock has an important place in music history. Today we share our positive voices loud and far.

Some of us have certainly been hit hard, but we remain strong and we want to support, in our own way as a community, our frontline responders and those who are struggling in any way. We thank our healthcare and essential workers who selflessly work every day in order to save lives.

We dedicate this performance to all of you through the shared Spirt of Music.

Join us!

Please join us at 5:30pm (CDT) on the 7th of May to perform Out Loud, Outside and Online!

We have chosen four works, two which are well known and two that require click-tracks.

If you prefer to listen on KTTZ to the live broadcast and perform along that works too!

Use headphones to hear the music and the click-track.  Then play your part, sing or dance or paint….

In all cases please VIDEO yourself and your performance. Do not record the broadcast or the click-track, …just your performance please.

Then send those to us at: music.media@ttu.edu via WeTransfer.com

We will produce the "Sound of Lubbock" Virtual Ensemble Video for future broadcasting. Detailed instructions will be available on the TTU School of Music website and social media pages (after May 7, 2020).
