Justine Halamicek | Soprano I Section Leader
Killeen High School
Justine Halamicek is the Head Choir Director at Killeen High School. Previously she has held positions at Muleshoe, Belton, and Robinson High Schools. In addition to directing choirs, she has also taught AP music theory and directed musicals at school and in the community. She has also held positions with Children's Choirs at St. John's UMC Lubbock, FUMC Lubbock, and the Stillwater Children's Chorus in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Justine also maintains an active private voice studio. Her students from school as well as her private studio consistently earn placement in TMEA region choirs, TMEA/TCDA state choirs, divisional and national ACDA honor choirs, and earn superior ratings at Texas State Solo and Ensemble competition.
She holds a Master of Music in Choral Conducting and a Certificate in Early Music Performance Practice from Texas Tech University. Justine earned her Bachelor of Music with emphasis in Vocal Music Education from Oklahoma State University. Her professional affiliations include ACDA, TMEA, and TCDA.
Lindsey Spitsberg | Soprano II Section Leader
Lubbock High School
Lindsey Spitsberg is an active clinician in her thirteenth year of teaching, and her seventh year as the Director of Choirs at Lubbock High School in Lubbock, TX, where she currently holds the position of Fine Arts Department Chair. Prior to this, she was the Assistant Director at Coronado High School and the Head Director at Irons Middle School, both in Lubbock ISD. She has been the section leader for ensembles at the TMEA regional and state levels. In addition to directing, Mrs. Spitsberg is the Vice President of TMEA Region 16 and has served as the Chair of the TCDA Hospitality Committee. She is also in her ninth year as a mentor teacher for the LISD New Teacher Academy.
Mrs. Spitsberg's choirs consistently earn top honors at contests, including sweepstakes at UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest. Most recently, the LHS Chorale was invited to perform at the National Cathedral in Washington DC. Mrs. Spitsberg holds a BM in Music Education from Texas Tech University, where she was a soloist and two-year officer for both University Choir and Madrigal Singers under the direction of Dr. John Dickson and Dr. Pamela Huffman (Elrod), Mrs. Spitsberg enjoys spending free time with her husband, Matt, and her six-year-old twins, Luke and Everett.
Clorese Porter | Alto I Section Leader
Plano Senior High School
Clorese Porter just finished her first year as the head director at Plano Senior High School and thirteenth year of teaching choral music. Before moving to Plano Senior HS, she was the head choral director at Grapevine High School for two years. Choirs under Clorese's direction have consistently received sweepstakes awards at UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest, and her former AP Music Theory students have been highly successful earning college credit and scholarships due to her tutelage. Additionally, Mrs. Porter has served as musical director for the annual musicals including productions of "Grease", "Singing in the Rain", "How to Succeed in Business Without really Trying" and "Into the Woods".
A graduate of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Fort Worth, Clorese attended Texas Christian University, earning a Bachelor of Music in Education degree. While at TCU she was a member of the Women's Chorus, Choral Union, and Concert Chorale and participated in performances for the TMEA and SWACDA conventions and at Carnegie Hall. Clorese is a member of TMEA, TCDA, TMAA and the 2010 recipient of TCDA's Distinguished Young Director Award. She resides in Lewisville with her wonderfully patient husband Patrick Porter and their adorable doggy Mia.
Chelsea Berner | Alto II Section Leader
Ridge Point High School
Chelsea Berner is about to begin her sixth year of teaching high school choir and her third year teaching at Ridge Point High School. Prior to working at Ridge Point, Chelsea taught at Spring High School and her students continue to consistently earn Superior ratings at UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Contest and Solo & Ensemble and perform in Region and All-State Choirs. She is active as a singer and clinician in the Houston area and holds a Music Education degree from Baylor University and Master's degree in Choral Conducting from Michigan State University. Chelsea currently serves as the Region 13 Secretary and Treasurer, as alto section leader at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Houston and actively performs with the women's ensemble mirabai.
Katie Patel | SSC Soprano/Alto Section Leader
Jasper High School
Katie Patel is headed into her seventh year of teaching and first year as the Director of Choirs at Jasper High School in Plano ISD. Previously, she has been the Head Director at Ted Polk Middle School and the Associate Director at Garland High School. Students of Mrs. Patel have participated in All-Region choirs, All-State Choirs, received superior ratings and outstanding soloist awards at Solo & Ensemble, and participated in the state level of the Solo and Ensemble Contest.
Mrs. Patel has served as the Concert I Chorus Assistant Conductor for the Children's Chorus of Greater Dallas for the past six years along with CCGD Artistic Director, Cynthia Nott. Additionally, she has been honored to serve as the Lewisville ISD 5th Grade Honor Choir Conductor for the past two years. Mrs. Patel also serves as a Soprano II Section Leader at Highland Park United Methodist Church under the direction of Dr. Alan Raines.
Ms. Patel graduated with a Bachelor's in Music Education degree from Texas Tech University
in 2013. She will be starting her masters in Music Education through the Texas Tech
University Summer-MMED program in 2020. She holds affiliations with the Texas Music
the Texas Choral Directors Association, and Texas Music Adjudicators Association.
Aaron Lucero-Cannon| Tenor Section Leader
Newman Smith High School
Aaron Lucero-Cannon just finished his second year as the Head Choral Director at Newman Smith High School. Prior to being at Newman Smith, he served as the Associate Choir Director at Lake Highlands High School in Richardson ISD and Robinson Middle School in Plano ISD. Choirs under the direction of Mr. Lucero-Cannon have consistently received Sweepstakes at UIL contest and his students have been successful at Solo and Ensemble, Region, and placed in the All-State choirs. In 2013, he had the honor of conducting the Robinson Middle School Varsity A Cappella Treble Choir at the TMEA convention in San Antonio. In addition to his teaching, Mr. Lucero-Cannon sings in the Highland Park Presbyterian Chorale, he serves as the Music Director for Community Christian Church in Richardson, and is the Assistant Conductor for the Youth Chorus of the Children's Chorus of Greater Dallas. Mr. Lucero-Cannon is a 2012 graduate of Texas Tech University where he received his Bachelor of Music degrees in Music Education and Vocal Performance with a minor in Italian.
Rob Rodgers | Bass Section Leader
Odessa High School
Rob Rodgers is completing his 2nd year as the associate director at Odessa High School, and 8th year of teaching overall. Mr. Rodgers has held an award-winning career in music education, serving at Odessa High School, where in the Spring of 2019, he led the varsity men's choir to the first Sweepstakes rating for that group in the history of the program, as well as at Bowie Middle School as both the assistant and then head director. Under his direction, Mr. Rodgers' choirs consistently achieve "Superior" ratings at UIL Concert & Sight Reading Evaluation, as well as regularly bringing home "Superior" and "Best In Class" rankings at statewide festivals. At OHS, Mr. Rodgers directs the Varsity Men, Beginner Women, and Broncho Legacy.
He completed his Bachelors of Music Education at Texas Tech University under the teaching of Richard Bjella, Dr. John Dickson, Dr. Carolyn Cruse, and Dr. John Hollins. Mr. Rodgers' professional affiliations include TMEA, TCDA, and ACDA. He is proud to have served TMEA as the JH/MS Vocal Coordinator for the Region 6 West Zone for the past 6 years. Additionally, he has served as music director for Lubbock Moonlight Musicals, and is excited to serve as music director for the Permian Playhouse's upcoming production of Little Shop of Horrors.
Neal Patel | SSC Tenor/Bass Section Leader
Highland Park High School
Neal Patel is in his 4th year as the Associate Director of Choirs at Highland Park High School, and in his 7th year of teaching. Previously, Mr. Patel was the Associate Director at Earl Warren High School in Northside ISD. Mr. Patels' choirs consistently receive "Superior" ratings at UIL Concert & Sight Reading and his students achieve success at Solo & Ensemble Contest, as well as earn placement in Texas All-State Choirs. At Highland Park High School, he teaches AP Music Theory and directs the Beginning Tenor-Bass, Intermediate Treble, and Varsity Tenor-Bass choirs. In addition, he assists with teaching the Lads and Lassies Varsity Mixed Choir and the a cappella ensemble, Park Version. In addition to teaching, Mr. Patel is an active performer singing with the Highland Park Chorale, and is a staff singer and tenor section leader at Highland Park United Methodist Church. He attended Texas Tech University where he earned degrees in Finance and Accounting as well as Music Education. He holds professional affiliations with TMEA, TCDA, and ACDA, and proudly serves as the Region 20 TMEA Vocal Division Secretary. Mr. Patel currently resides in Wylie, TX with his beautiful wife Katie.
