Dr. Jeremy Marks is Assistant Professor of Music in Low Brass at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Dr. Marks earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from The University of Texas at Austin, Master of Music from Western Michigan University, and Bachelor of Music from Bowling Green State University.

Prior to his appointment at ULM, he held faculty positions at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, Blinn College, and was the Teaching Assistant for the Trombone Studio at U.T. He is the new representative for the state of Louisiana's chapter of TAPAS (Trombone Artists Performing for Amateurs and Students), an education initiative by the International Trombone Association. In addition to teaching, his Audio and Literature reviews have been published in the International Trombone Association Journal. Dr. Marks's research interests include performance, pedagogy, and instrument doubling. He has presented this research at the Big XII Trombone Conference, “The Collegiate Trombonist's Guide to the Bass Trumpet.”

He currently performs as the principal trombone of the Monroe Symphony Orchestra, and has held positions in the Sherman Symphony and Brazos Valley Symphony. He has also performed in several other orchestras including the Rapides, South Arkansas, Mid-Texas, Round Rock, Southwest Michigan, and Bowling Green Symphonies. He has performed on bass trumpet and euphonium in the Austin and Canton Symphonies. Dr. Marks can be heard on bass trombone with the Western Brass Quintet on the Arcadia record label and heard on other labels such as Naxos and Longhorn Music.

He is a member of the Northside Trombone Quartet, winners of the 2013 International Trombone Association Quartet Competition. NTQ has performed at several universities, conferences, and workshops including The International Trombone Festival, Big XII Trombone Conference, Low Brass Day (University of Texas – San Antonio), and The Civil Rights Summit in Austin, TX. Dr. Marks's primary teaching influences include Dr. Nathaniel Brickens, Dr. Steve Wolfinbarger, Dr. William Mathis, Garth Simmons, and Charles Villarrubia.

Dr. Marks has served as the Web Assistant for the International Trombone Association, and holds memberships with the International Tuba and Euphonium Association, Texas Music Educators Association, the American Federation of Musicians, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. He is an S.E. Shires Trombone Artist.
