Gracie Guerra, B.B.A.

Director

Gracie Guerra is excited to join the Texas Tech MVP Team! Military service members and their families have a special place in her heart because she has experienced first-hand the hardships military families must endure. While supporting her husband during his 28 year military career & 13 military moves under her belt, she had the privilege of working with various military organizations throughout the U.S.A., Germany, & Spain.

In 1998, Mrs. Guerra received a Bachelor's of Business Administration with a Major in Accounting from the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor. Currently, she is pursuing a Masters in Personal Financial Planning from Texas Tech & is proud to be part of the Red Raider Family. In 2003, she was awarded the Shield of Sparta-Heroine of the Infantry Award and in 2017, she was conferred with the Yellow Rose of Texas Award. With 25 years of experience as a military spouse, she knows that a military career is about service and sacrifice! Therefore, Gracie is proud to assist Veterans and their families to understand their federal and state educational benefits.

In her spare time, Gracie enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, listening to music & travelling.

Jeremy Sedeno, M.Ed.

Assistant Director

Jeremy was born and raised right here in Lubbock, TX. He is a graduate of Coronado High School. He has three children and four precious grandbabies. In 2000 Jeremy ventured into the United States Army. Hee was stationed in Ft. Benning GA for basic training. Jeremy was trained as a Combat Medic (91W). In 2004 he was attached to the XVIII Airborne Corps Headquarters and deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom III (2005 -2006).  While in country Jeremy was awarded the Bronze Star and the Combat Medical Badge for providing treatment under fire. He was medically discharged in 2007 due to a career ending injury that he sustained in Iraq. Jeremy then enrolled at Texas Tech where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and Ethnic Studies (2011). He also earned his Teaching Certification (2013). Jeremy then received his M.Ed. in Secondary Education (2014). His dedication to his beloved alma mater has led him to find a home here at Texas Tech University more specifically with the Military and Veterans Programs as an Assistant Director.  Jeremy is very fortunate to be working with his fellow Veterans. There's nothing like working with Veterans and to have the opportunity to help them along the way is even better.

Brian Conkin, M.B.A.

Program Manager

Brian Conkin grew up and went to school in Springlake-Earth, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army from 2006 to 2014 in the medical field.  He received a B.B.A from Texas Tech in Management and Accounting and an M.B.A. from Liberty University. 

Brian has a ten-year-old daughter named Hannah, and both attend Trinity Church. He officiates football and basketball part-time and, in his free time, he volunteers for One Voice Home and enjoys watching the four major sports. It is a pleasure for him to help veterans and their families understand their federal and state educational benefits.

Matt Knight, B.A.

Unit Manager

Matt was an Infantryman in the United States Army from 2015 to 2018. At Fort Hood, he was assigned to the 3rd Calvary Regiment. During this time, he deployed to Afghanistan as part of Operation Freedom's Sentinel. Matt is a school certifying official dedicated to helping veterans and their family members to establish federal educational benefits.

Fabian Lee Martinez, B.A.

Unit Manager

Fabian was born and raised in Lubbock, TX and attended Lubbock Monterey high school, upon graduation he shipped off to start his enlistment of United States Navy in 2001. In the wake of 9/11, he completed Basic Training and A-School he was sent off to his first duty station onboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz CVN-68 as a Damage Control Fireman. Onboard he attended two tours of (OEF & OIF) Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom, one tour in 2003 and another in 2005.

In 2007 Fabian transitioned to duty for Auxiliary Security Force (ASF) and upon completion was off to his next orders as a Navy Instructor completing with a designation of Master Training Specialist (MTS). Fabian's last duty station was onboard the destroyer ship USS Howard DDG-83 and was an Operations Specialist billeted as an Anti-Submarine Tactical Air Controller (ASTAC) and an Air Intercept Controller (AIC). Onboard the Howard he attended his last tour in 2011 in the Gulf of Aden conducting pirate operations.

In 2012, Fabian came back to West Texas and attended South Plains College for his AA and transferred to Texas Tech University to obtain a BA in University Studies. Fabian loves spending his time with his wife Heather and his children Ethan, Braileigh and Harper.

Fabian is also involved in the local community as the Vice President in League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) chapter 263 and as the Lubbock Chapter Leader in VETSports.

Donald Lane

Business Manager

Donald Lane served in the United States Marine Corps as a Crash Fire Rescue Crewman from 2012 to 2016. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan for two years and then transferred to MCAS Cherry Point in North Carolina. While stationed in Okinawa, he traveled to Australia and the Philippines, working with the Australian Defense Force and the Armed Forces of the Philippines. In 2020, he graduated from Texas Tech with a BA in Media Strategies and a Minor in General Business. Donald is dedicated to helping his fellow veterans and their family members maximize their benefits and success at TTU.

In his spare time, Donald enjoys spending time with his wife KayLyn, and his children Donald and Sawyer.
