Biography

I grew up in southern Mississippi on a commercial blueberry farm.  Growing up on a farm I was always fascinated by the flora and fauna of the surrounding forests.  My father, a high school biology teacher, encouraged my early interest in the life sciences.  I received my Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2011.  I spent the year after graduating from Southern Miss managing the family farm, selling produce at farmers markets, and working for a metal fabricating and construction company.  While I did enjoy my experiences working on the farm and in the construction field, I decided to further my education by pursuing a Master of Science degree.  My research interests lie within immune responses to disease and parasites in northern bobwhite quail. Upon completing a Master of Science degree I hope to continue my education and obtain a doctorate degree, hopefully working with upland game birds or waterfowl.  When I am not doing research I enjoy running, hunting, training my German shorthaired pointer, Pepper, or cooking.
