Biography

I was born and raised in Lubbock. Upon graduating from High School, I earned an associate degree from South Plains College, and then a Bachelor of Science degree from Angelo State University with a major in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. While completing my undergraduate degree I worked for the Angelo State Natural History Collections, which was invaluable for honing my skills as an amateur naturalist and proliferating my appreciation for scientific collections. After graduating from ASU, I have been employed by Texas Parks and Wildlife (Inland Fisheries Division), the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and currently I am a Regulatory Specialist for the Operations Division of Texas Tech, Specifically the Asbestos Compliance Department.

I fell in love with fresh water ecosystems as a child, and still have that passion to this day. Conforming to my passion, my main research interests are broadly in the freshwater environment, especially invasive species impact on native communities, species conservation and fisheries management.

In my free time, I like to be outside enjoying the natural world, fishing from my kayak and spending time with my wife and four-month-old son.
