Photo Description

My name is Sarah (Whitson) Hollers and I was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas. I graduated from Texas Tech University with a B.S. in Natural Resources Management and a concentration in Wildlife Biology in August of 2017. During my time as an undergraduate, I served as President of the Range, Wildlife, and Fisheries Society and participated in field research under several professors in the NRM department. About 6 months after graduating, I moved to Austin, Texas, where I started my career as a Wildlife Officer with the City of Austin Animal Services. As a Wildlife Officer, I served as a wildlife specialist to the public, using scientific research and data to implement the City of Austin Coyote Management Policy and investigate reports of coyote activity. I closely monitored coyote behavior and provided technical assistance to mitigate urban wildlife conflicts with the public. By mid-2020, my husband and I successfully adopted our two nieces and nephew. During the pandemic, I made the decision to put her career on hold to stay at home with my children. We recently moved back to Lubbock to be closer to family and I am now the Academic Advisor for undergraduate students in the Natural Resources Management Department. I am so excited to give back and be a part of this amazing department that I have always called “home”.
