Academic Freedom Scholarship
For graduate or undergraduate students in good academic and disciplinary standing at Texas Tech University. Recipient is selected in open competition on original essays addressing a broad range of academic freedom topics. Application deadline: Third Friday in April. Winners are announced first Friday in May. The scholarship award is effective for the following academic year. Inquiries may be directed to Scholarship Office, 305E, West Hall.
Established by the Texas Tech University Faculty Legal Action Association. Administered by a three member faculty committee. Special application is needed.

James and Mary Alexander
Endowed Scholarship

For residents of Starr, Hidalgo, Cameron, and Willacy counties with the presentation made to a potential student who is a merit scholar finalist or semifinalist. Should there not be a student available in those four counties who qualifies and desires a scholarship, then it will be extended to the following counties: Webb, Zapata, Jim Hogg, Kleberg, Brooks, Kennedy, Duval, Jim Wells, Nueces, and San Patricio. Should there not be a student available in those counties, then the scholarship will be offered to students with an 1100 SAT1 or who are in the top 25 percent of the graduating class from first Starr, Hidalgo, Cameron, and Willacy. If no one is qualified, then the offer will go to the next set of counties listed above.

Alpha Lambda Delta
Junior-Senior Scholarship

For a junior or senior Alpha Lambda Delta member who has maintained the 3.5 GPA required for membership. Must be enrolled as a full-time student. Selection based largely on academic achievement, but participation in activities related to the ALD chapter, local community, and the university will be considered as well. Need may be a factor in some instances. Amount is $200, awarded $100 in the fall and $100 in the spring provided recipient continues to meet scholarship requirements.

Alpha Lambda Delta
Undergraduate Scholarship

For an undergraduate Alpha Lambda Delta member who has maintained the 3.5 GPA required for membership. Amount is $200, awarded $100 in the fall and $100 in the spring.
Established by the Texas Tech chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta, national honor society for freshmen. Special application available in the Scholarship Office. Application deadline: March 1.

Alpha Phi Omega Scholarship*
For undergraduates having a 2.5 GPA both overall and for the previous semester on work completed at Texas Tech. Entering freshman grade requirements are based on appropriate test records. Financial need is a major consideration, and preference is given to physically handicapped students who have been affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America. Amount is $200 each semester (renewable, but applicant must reapply and have a 2.5 GPA for the previous semester).
Established by Beta Sigma Chapter of Alpha Phi Omega, National Service Fraternity, to assist deserving students in achieving a college education. Administered by Financial Aid Committee. Application deadline: March 1.

ARCS Foundation, Inc.,
Scholarship

For an undergraduate entering junior or senior years, or graduate student having at least a 3.5 GPA who is a citizen of the U.S. and is pursuing studies in the natural sciences. Amounts vary.
Established by the Lubbock Chapter of ARCS Foundation, Inc. (Achievement Rewards for College Scientists). Special applications are available in the Scholarship Office. Application deadline: April 1.

J. W. Bagley Foundation
Scholarship*
For a freshman, sophomore, junior, and a senior each year. The freshman, sophomore, and junior are eligible to receive the scholarship until four years pass from the time when he or she enrolled in the university. In order to receive the scholarship in subsequent years the students must meet the following criteria: full-time enrollment, 3.0 cumulative GPA, and the family or sole income must not have grossed earnings greater than 175 percent of the previous year's poverty level.

John M. Bayne Memorial
Endowed Scholarship in
Psychology and Sociology*

For a psychology or sociology major with a 3.0 GPA. Recipients will be selected on the equal basis of scholarship merit and financial need.
Established to memorialize the work and achievements of the late John M. Bayne in psychology, sociology, and education. Administered by the Student Financial Aid Scholarship Committee. Application deadline: March 1.

Cowboy Bell Scholarship
For new undergraduates and transfer students from southeastern New Mexico and bordering Texas counties (Chaves, Lea, Eddy, and Lincoln counties in New Mexico and Cochran, Yoakum, Gaines, Andrews, Winkler, Loving, and Culberson counties in Texas). New undergraduates should rank in the top 25 percent of their high school class or score at least 22 ACT or 1000 SAT1. Transfer students should have a 3.0 GPA. Eligible applicants may reapply for subsequent years. All awards are made and renewed on a competitive basis and dependent on availability of funds. Amount is $100 per semester.
Established through the generosity of The Cowboy Bell Scholarship Fund and The First United Methodist Church of Roswell, New Mexico. Administered by the Ex-Students Association Scholarship Committee. Special applications are needed. Application deadline: March 1.

Margaret Bell Endowed
Scholarship*

For students exhibiting financial need and academic qualifications. Renewable provided the recipients reapply and maintain satisfactory academic progress. The scholarships will be awarded without regard to residence, race, religion, sex, or ethnic origin.

Jim Bowers Memorial Endowed
Scholarship
For deserving and qualified students from Taylor High School, Katy, Texas. Once a recipient is selected, the student will be eligible for the scholarship for four consecutive years if academic achievement is maintained and recipient reapplies.

J. T. Brodie Memorial
Scholarship Fund*

For entering freshmen residents of Amarillo or Canadian, Texas, or residents of Potter or Hemphill counties. Recipient must be in the upper quarter of the high school class and show evidence of financial need. This scholarship may be renewable if a 2.50 GPA is maintained. Students are required to submit a new application each year.

Florence Brown En Avant Club
Scholarship

For full-time undergraduate women students who have a 3.0 GPA and an interest in the pursuit of knowledge concerning women's issues. The scholarship award is for $500 for one year and may be renewed repeatedly for four years. Applicants are asked to submit a 500 word essay explaining the applicant's interest in matters relevant to the lives of women and two letters of recommendation.
Established in memory of Susie Edna Maynard Gott. Administered by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Recommendation for award administered by Women's Studies Council. A special application is needed. Application deadline: March 1.

J. Neuel Bryan Memorial
General Endowed Scholarship*

For any full-time student. Financial need will be considered. Amount varies.
Established through the estate of Eleanora Cresap Woodward Bryan and the Texas Tech University Foundation for worthy and needy students. Administered by the Student Financial Aid Scholarship Committee. Application deadline: March 1.

J. Fred Bucy Endowed Scholarship
For graduates of Port Aransas, Texas High School.

John T. and Ruth Carthel
Endowed Scholarship Fund*

For students majoring in music, agricultural sciences, or premedicine at the undergraduate level. Two awards of $1,000 each made annually based on financial need and academic qualifications (recipient must have at least a 2.8 GPA). Awards are renewable each year providing the recipient reapplies, maintains a 2.8 GPA, and demonstrates satisfactory academic progress.

Cavazos Junior High Scholarship*
For any former student of Cavazos Junior High, Lubbock, Texas regardless of classification or major. The student must have had a 3.0 GPA in high school and must continue to maintain a 2.5 GPA. Financial need may be considered. Amount and number vary.

For deserving former students of Lauro Cavazos Elementary School, Ector County Independent School District, Odessa, Texas, who will be attending Texas Tech.

Scholarship*

For a freshman or transfer female student of any major to provide assistance and motivation. Freshman must have had a 2.8 GPA in high school, 21 ACT, or 1000 SAT1. Financial need is considered. One awarded; amount varies.

Alvin Davis Rodeo Scholarship
For all students who have an interest and participate in the Texas Tech University Rodeo Association activities. Amount and number vary.

Mary W. Doak
Residence Hall Scholarship

For any full-time student living in the residence halls and making satisfactory academic progress. Based on GPA and leadership involvement in campus organizations. Amount is $500 with 10 scholarships awarded each fall and spring semester.
Established in 1998 by the Department of Housing and Dining Services and named after the first residence hall built, Doak Hall, in 1934 on the campus. Mrs. Mary W. Doak was the first Dean of Women and served Tech from 1925, when the college opened, until 1945, when she retired to become a member of the English faculty. Applications are available through the Housing and Dining Services Office in Doak Hall. Application deadlines: October 1 for fall and March 1 for spring.

A. H. Douglas Endowed
Scholarship in Foreign Language*

For sophomore, junior, or senior foreign language majors. A 3.0 GPA and financial need are primary considerations. Amount varies.
Established as a memorial to Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Douglas. Administered by the Student Financial Aid Scholarship Committee. Application deadline: March 1.

Ida Mobberly Duff Memorial
Endowed Scholarship*

For an entering freshman who has graduated from Sweetwater High School in the top 25 percent of his or her class. Amount will be $1,500. The previous year recipient will be offered $1,000. Academic ability and financial need are considered.

Mabel Evans Dugger
Endowed Scholarship

For students who are in good standing and show academic achievement and leadership qualities. Awarded without regard to residence, race, religion, sex, or ethnic origin. Amount and number vary.

Willie Enriquez Jr. Memorial
Endowed Scholarship

For a student who is a member of the Hispanic Student Society which is open to all students. Student must be a sophomore, junior, or senior with a 2.0 GPA in any major.
Established in memory of Willie Enriquez Jr. by friends, family, and the Hispanic Student Society. Administered by the Student Financial Aid Scholarship Committee. Application deadline: March 1.

John Frost III Memorial
Endowed Scholarship*

For an entering freshman of any area of study from J. J. Pearce High School in Richardson, Texas. Financial need and scholastic achievement will be considered. The amount is no less than $400 annually. Applications are to be obtained at the J. J. Pearce High School and filed with the counselor there who will submit them to the Office of Student Financial Aid with recommendations. Administered by the Student Financial Aid Scholarship Committee.

George Investment Foundation
Team, Inc. Scholarship*

For U.S. citizens who are offspring of members of the U.S. Armed Forces who were either killed or disabled while in service. Applicants must meet certain low-income as well as high educational standards; they should have SAT1 scores of at least 1150, be in the top 20 percent of their class, and maintain a 2.5 GPA. Scholastic ability should include leadership as well as school and community involvement. One new award is made each year.

Raymond Green Memorial
Scholarship
For Texas Tech Federal Credit Union members who are pursuing degrees at Texas Tech University or Texas Tech Health Sciences Center. Recipients must be TTFCU members in good standing, have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, and be registered as full-time students during the period of the award. Applicants must supply official transcripts and should demonstrate their educational goals and objectives, as well as a brief review of their financial resources for college expenses. Amount is $1,000 each; 2 awarded (1 undergraduate and 1 graduate).
Established by the Texas Tech Federal Credit Union in memory of Raymond Green, former faculty member and founder of the credit union. Administered by the TTFCU Scholarship Committee. Special application available from the TTFCU offices. Application deadline: May 31.

Roberto Cortez Guajardo
Memorial Endowed Scholarship

For an incoming first generation or limited income (TRIO guidelines) freshman or transfer student who has graduated from an accredited high school in Cochran or Hockley County. Applicants may complete the entering freshman or transfer application.
Established in memory of Roberto Cortez Guajardo by friends and family to honor his contributions and dedication in educating youths in the communities. Application deadline: March 1.

Rita Harmon Memorial
Endowed Scholarship*

For female graduates of Amarillo Caprock High School, or any Lubbock high school if there are no eligible recipients from Amarillo; based on need and academics. Recipients must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher and reapply to remain eligible for annual renewal.
Established by the Harmon and Palmentera families, employees of the City of Lubbock, and friends of Rita Harmon. Administered by the Student Financial Aid Scholarship Committee. Application deadline: March 1.

Joe and Julia Holmes Family
Endowed Scholarship

For any undergraduate student who has a 2.5 GPA or better and who has demonstrated good citizenship qualities. Financial need is not to be considered.
Established in 1988 through a contribution to the Endowment for Scholarships Fund in appreciation for Tech's influence on the lives of Joe and Julia Holmes and their family, Nancy and Jim Nelson, Joanne and Bill Craig, and Kathy and Don Skidmore. Administered by the Student Financial Aid Scholarship Committee. Application deadline: March 1.

Paul Whitfield Horn Fellowship
For female graduate students who have an outstanding academic record, can describe well-developed professional goals, and have the potential for a worthy professional career. Preference is given to those applicants who are near the end of their academic careers. Financial need may be considered. One or more fellowships are awarded annually but may be omitted at the committee's discretion.
Established in honor of the first president of the university by the University Quarterly Club and the University Women's Club. Administered by the Paul Whitfield Horn Fellowship Committee. Special applications are available from the chairperson of the committee and the Financial Aid Office. Applications available in January. Applications deadline: March 1.

India Association of West Texas
Endowed Scholarship*
For undergraduate students in any college or major who have a strong interest in promoting the cultural heritage of people of other countries and diverse ethnic backgrounds, including those of India. Recipients must have high academic merit and exhibit financial need. Scholarship is renewable if recipient maintains a 3.5 or higher GPA and reapplies. Amount is $200 minimum.

For students who demonstrate financial need and are worthy of assistance as determined by the Financial Aid Scholarship Committee. Amount varies.

Kraft General Foods
Endowed Scholarship

For graduating seniors from Post High School with a 2.5 GPA. Financial need is not a major factor in selecting the recipient. If a Post High School graduate does not apply, graduates from surrounding high school will be considered under the same requirements.

Lamb Endowment Scholarship*

For students having a minimum GPA of 2.5. The selection of the recipients shall be based on financial need and academic qualifications. Awards are renewable each year provided the recipients maintain satisfactory academic progress and reapply. The scholarships will be awarded without regard to residence, race, religion, sex, or ethnic origin.

Lubbock Chapter of Women in
Construction Scholarship

For a sophomore, junior, or senior engineering or architectural student with a minimum overall 2.5 GPA. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and South Plains (Lubbock area) residents. Amount is $1,200 annually.
Established by the Lubbock Chapter of Women in Construction with funds given by local contractors and construction related businesses. Administered by the Student Financial Aid Scholarship Committee. Application deadline: March 1.

Luskey's Western Stores, Inc.,
Scholarship

For a freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior student who is a child of an employee of Luskey's Western Stores, Inc. Preference given to current employees. If no qualified applicants are available, a student from the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources may be selected. Amount is $500.

George W. McCleskey Endowed Scholarship
For any full-time student. Financial need is not considered.

Ella C. McFadden Charitable
Trust Scholarship*

For worthy, talented, industrious, and needy undergraduates. Children of former Southland Royalty Company or Burlington Resources employees are given first preference; qualified residents of the Fort Worth area are next preferred. Recipients must maintain good academic standing with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Students who have been, or become, subject to disciplinary action of the university are ineligible. Amount is $500.
Established by trustees of the Ella C. McFadden Charitable Trust under provisions created by the late Ella C. McFadden of Fort Worth, Texas. Administered by the Student Financial Aid Scholarship Committee.

William A. and Elizabeth B. Moncrief Foundation Scholarship
For any student who is registered full-time and has a 2.5 GPA. Amount and number vary.
Established by the William A. and Elizabeth B. Moncrief Foundation. Administered by the Financial Aid Scholarship Committee. Application deadline: March 1.

Mike Moss-AIA Lubbock
University Endowed Scholarship

For outstanding entering freshmen with high academic achievement, leadership in school or community activities, and a recommendation from their high school principal or counselor. Restricted to students with a declared major in architecture. Students must have 22 ACT or 1100 SAT1 score or above and minimum high school GPA of 3.0.
Administered by Financial Aid Scholarship Committee.

LaVerne Noyes Scholarship*
For blood descendants of U.S. veterans of World War I, provided need can be established and provided evidence is furnished showing that the veteran's enlistment was prior to May 11, 1918, or that, if later, overseas service occurred prior to November 11, 1918. Available to entering freshmen in the upper quarter of their graduating classes and to other students with minimum 2.5 GPAs. Renewable each year for the normal remaining time required for the recipient to complete his undergraduate degree curriculum, if funds are available and if the recipient maintains a satisfactory scholarship (2.5 GPA) and citizenship record and needs financial assistance. Award can be made for up to 8 semesters, depending on available funds. Scholarship must be renewed by application and supporting documents each year.

NSDAR Centennial Scholarship
For any student majoring in science. Amount varies.
Established by the Texas Society Daughters of the American Revolution to provide scholarships to deserving students. Administered by the Student Financial Aid Scholarship Committee. Application deadline: March 1.

Mr. and Mrs. Lee C. O'Neil
Scholarship*

For deserving and needy students. There are no restrictions as to major or undergraduate classification. Students may reapply for these scholarships but to be eligible to receive or to maintain these awards, they must demonstrate satisfactory academic achievement. Amount is not more than $1,000.

Lisa Ann and Lori Sue Packard
Memorial Scholarship*

For sophomore or junior women in the College of Arts and Sciences in financial need and with creditable scholastic standing. Preference is given to a physically disabled individual. Amount is $100.

Paddle Tramps Manufacturing
CompanyKen and Renee Abraham Scholarship

For entering freshmen or students with an overall GPA of 2.75 or better the semester previous to receiving the scholarship. The recipient may receive the scholarship two semesters in a row provided a 3.0 GPA is received the semester before. The scholarship is not renewable after two semesters. The recipients shall be selected from the industrial engineering department, in honor of Dr. Richard Dudek; a national social society; Phi Gamma Delta; and elementary, all-level, early childhood, or secondary education.

Endowed Scholarship*
For students enrolled in the College of Engineering and the College of Human Sciences. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors must have a 3.0 GPA. Financial need will be considered. Scholarship is renewable for up to 4 years, but recipient must reapply annually.

Natoo Patel Endowed Scholarship*
For any student with financial need. A 2.0 GPA is required; renewal if recipient maintains a 2.5 GPA and reapplies.

Thomas W. Payne Endowed Scholarship
For an entering freshman with a high school GPA of 3.0 or higher from the Arlington, Texas area. Preference will be given to chemical engineering majors, but all majors will be considered. Recipients can compete for continuation of the scholarship by maintaining a 3.0 GPA and submitting an application each year.

Phi Eta Sigma Scholarship
For any full-time undergraduate Phi Eta Sigma member (except entering freshman) who has maintained the 3.5 GPA required for membership. One annual award of $500.
Established by the Texas Tech chapter of Phi Eta Sigma, national honor society for freshmen. Administered by the Student Financial Aid Committee with the approval of the PES advisor. Special applications are available in the Scholarships Office. Application deadline: March 1.

Pi Beta Phi Diane Dorsey
Endowed Scholarship

For a sophomore, junior, or senior student with a 2.5 or better GPA. Recipients must be enrolled for a minimum of 6 hours. Financial need is also a consideration.
Applications will be screened by the Pi Beta Phi Committee with the final selection being made by the Financial Aid Scholarship Committee. Special applications are available in the Scholarship Office, 305E, West Hall. Application deadline: March 1.

Questar Corporation Education

Foundation Scholarship*
For any undergraduate studying engineering, geology, geophysics, or other physical sciences. Must be an American citizen. Preference will be given to students with financial need. Amount is $200 minimum.
Established by Questar Corporation. Administered by Student Financial Aid Scholarship Committee. Application deadline: March 1.

Buddy Reger Memorial Rodeo
Scholarship

For all students with at least a 2.5 GPA. (Incoming freshmen are eligible with a minimum B average in high school.) Based on scholarship, leadership, and financial need. Special consideration given to members of the Rodeo Association at Texas Tech. Amount and number vary.

For graduates from Newcastle, Texas, or students from Young County with a 3.0 high school GPA. Students will be selected on a competitive basis. For a student with a 3.0 GPA who has completed at least 30 semester hours in any major at Texas Tech University. The amount and number of scholarships vary.

Mary Frank Nichols Sorrell
Scholarship

For high school graduates of Cal Farley's Boys Ranch. Priority will be given to all graduates, male or female, who have a grade average in the upper 20 percent of the class during the last two years of high school. The scholarship is renewable if the student has maintained a grade point average required by Texas Tech, with priority given to those students maintaining a 3.0 GPA.
Established by the Mary Frank Nichols Sorrell Trust. Administered by the Student Financial Aid Scholarship Committee based on recommendations by Cal Farley's Boys Ranch. Application deadline: March 1.

For any student (with the exception of prelaw majors) with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Scholarship

For any student who has completed 32 credit hours with a minimum 3.0 GPA. The student must have demonstrated service to Texas Tech University. Amount and number vary.

Student Support Services
Scholarship

For students who meet the minimum requirements of successful completion of a college Upward Bound Program or qualify as a low income or first generation college student. All students must be enrolled at Texas Tech and be in good academic standing (minimum GPA of 2.0 or better). First-time freshmen and transfer students with less than 12 approved semester transfer credits must provide a copy of their high school graduation transcripts and standardized SAT1 or ACT test scores. Other transfer students must provide a copy of their previous college transcripts. Please contact the Department of Student Support Services for additional information.

Herman Temple Endowed
Scholarship*

For a deserving freshman from Plainview High School. Financial need is a consideration even though the student may not be eligible for Federal or State Assistance.
Established in honor of Herman Temple, a long time Plainview resident. Administered by the Student Financial Aid Scholarship Committee. Recommendation received from Plainview High School.

For deserving students who, due to financial circumstances, need additional funds to continue their education. Students must maintain a 2.5 GPA. Approximate amount is $250 (2 awarded). Administered by the Student Financial Aid Scholarship Committee. Application deadline: March 1.

Texas Instruments Endowed
Scholarships for Sons and Daughters of TI Lubbock Employees

For students who are sons or daughters of a TI Lubbock employee and pursuing a degree at Texas Tech University at the time of application. Amount is up to a maximum of $1,000. Students must not be the recipient of any other scholarship or grant in excess of $750.
Administered by the Student Financial Aid Scholarship Committee. A special application is needed. Application deadline: March 1.

Texas Tech Rodeo Association
Endowed Scholarship

For full-time students who maintain eligibility to compete in National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association intercollegiate rodeos. Amount and number vary.

Established through forfeited General Property Deposit funds and authorized by the Texas State Legislature to award a limited number of scholarships to students who show evidence of high scholastic achievement, leadership, character, and financial need. Administered by the Student Financial Aid Scholarship Committee. Application deadline: March 1.

Johnny "Rusty" Thomas Memorial
Endowed Scholarship*

For an entering freshman from Abilene High School who has a 2.0 GPA. If there are no eligible recipients from Abilene, other high schools will be eligible. Scholarship is renewable provided the student makes satisfactory progress toward an academic degree and reapplies. Amount is $250. (One awarded).
Administered by Student Financial Aid Scholarship Committee based on recommendations from Abilene High School counselor. Application deadline: March 1.

Valedictorian and Salutatorian
Ex-Students Scholarship

For valedictorians and salutatorians from both Texas and out-of-state schools. Award is $200 ($100 fall and $100 spring) from the Ex-Students Association in recognition of excellent scholastic achievement.
Established by the Ex-Students Association and awarded in conjunction with the State of Texas Valedictorian Scholarships. Administered by the Student Financial Aid Scholarship Committee.

C. Dayle Vannoy Bowling
Endowed Scholarship

For undergraduate students who have participated in youth bowling activities and have a GPA of 2.5. Financial need will not be a determining factor, but will be considered. Students may reapply. Amount is $250 per year; number varies. Recipients will be requested to have their picture and name appear in the annual publication of the C. Dayle Vannoy Scholarship Fund Publication.
Established in honor of C. Dayle Vannoy by the C. Dayle Vannoy Scholarship Fund Foundation. Interested applicants should contact recreational sports. Application deadline: May 1.

Vietnam Veterans Memorial Endowed Scholarship
For children of Vietnam Era veterans as certified by Texas Tech. If no child of a Vietnam veteran applies for the scholarship then a child of any veteran may apply.
Established by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, Inc. Administered by the Student Financial Aid Scholarship Committee. A special application is required. Application deadline: March 1.

Williams, Elbert, Gammill,
and the Roosevelt ISD Teacher's
Association Scholarship

For a Roosevelt High School graduate each year. The scholarship in the amount of $500 for the fall semester and $500 for the spring semester. Recipients must maintain a 2.0 GPA in any major in order to receive the spring money. The award will be applied towards tuition and fees.
Established in honor of Mr. Marvin Williams, Mrs. Robert Elbert, and Mrs. James Gammill, former teachers at Roosevelt High School. Administered by the Student Financial Aid Scholarship Committee. Application deadline: March 1.
