Caleb D. Phillips, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor and Curator of Genetic Resources
microbiomes, metagenomics, transcriptomics, bioinformatics
Dr. Phillips has a 9-month appointment in biology and a 3-month appointment at the Texas Tech Museum as Curator of Genetic Resources. His research is primarily focused on metagenomics studying how microbiomes of humans and wildlife relates to health and disease. His lab integrates SNP genotyping, transcriptomics and microbiome surveys and is developing new analytical approaches and software to understand host-microbiome relationships.
ResearchDr. Phillips investigates the different factors and processes that shape microbiome communities living in and on macroorganisms.
