Research

Dr. Abidi is the Managing Director of the Fiber & Biopolymer Research Institute (FBRI). Some of his work incorporates the development of functional fabrics that can be used for anti-microbial protections. This includes functionalizing the fabric with an anti-microbial substrate to treat E-Coli infections or developing cotton into a translucent film onto which an anti-microbial agent can be introduced.

Research capabilities - Instrumentation/Testing

FBRI: TGA, FTIR microspectroscopy, Polarizing and Stero microscopes, XRD, Rheometer, HPLC, GPC, UV-vis, cryomicrotome, Surface area and porosity analyzer (BET), critical dryer, freeze dryer
