Faculty & Staff
We've been instructed to work remotely next week, when can we retrieve essential items from our work areas?
To allow our internal and external partners to continue repairs, and given that Friday, March 21, is a planned university holiday, all employees should plan to work remotely from Monday, March 17, through Thursday, March 20. Only employees directly involved in campus response efforts should report to campus next week.
If you have a laptop or tablet (not including desktops or other workstations) for remote work and it is in your workspace on campus, you may pick it up on Monday, March 17, during a specific time window. Supervisors are asked to coordinate with their team members to ensure the process runs smoothly and efficiently. For faculty with specific needs beyond these accommodations, please coordinate with your dean.

Is wireless internet down on campus?
It's sporadic. If power is out, the wireless internet will be impacted.
Can I just move my assignments/class content into Blackboard or Canvas (for those in the pilot group) and then still require that students join the class or turn in assignments today or tomorrow?
No. Because some students rely on Texas Techs computer labs and internet service to participate in online classes and submit assignments through Blackboard (or Canvas), we are asking Instructors of Record to be flexible with deadlines and assigned content.
Can faculty return to campus to move freezers or check on their labs during the campus closure?
No, the campus remains closed, and faculty should not return to campus or enter buildings or labs at this time. The only exceptions are for those who need to water plants or feed animals, but this still requires prior approval. Faculty who need to access buildings for research projects in progress that are time-sensitive should contact David Dorsett, and these requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Faculty who need to retrieve items may do so on Monday, following the instructions outlined in Dr. Schovanecs campus closure notice sent out on Friday, March 14.
