Dr. Shad Dowlatshahi is a Professor of Practice in Supply Chain Management in the Rawls College of Business. He was a tenured full professor and coordinator of Operations Management/Supply Chain Management at the University of Missouri, Kansas City for two decades. He holds a Ph.D. In Industrial and Management Engineering from the University of Iowa. He has also earned an MS and MBA degrees. Dr. Dowlatshahi's research activities focus on reverse logistics, supply chain management, service operations, manufacturing systems and strategy, concurrent engineering, purchasing and materials management, and quality management. He has published nearly 150 journal articles, books, book chapters, and proceedings in refereed academic and professional outlets. His research work is widely cited and used by the academicians and practitioners alike. He has presented and published extensively in national conferences. Dr. Dowlatshahi has managerial work experience as a purchasing and material manager in an international company. He has also served as a member of the editorial board and/or referee for a number of academic and professional journals. Shad has won many prestigious teaching awards, including the Chancellor's Outstanding Teaching Award from the University of Texas System. He is an active member of the DSI and APICS professional societies. Shad and his family have been engaged in social and volunteer works.
