Dr. Meixiu Zhang is an applied linguist who explores topics in second language (L2) pedagogy, L2 writing, corpus linguistics, and second language acquisition. Based on data-driven and empirical approaches, her research examines the potential of group work in language classrooms in relation to learner factors, task related factors, and setting related factors. Meixiu also conducts corpus investigations to understand learner language and language variation. Her work has appeared in journals such as the Journal of Second Language Writing, Corpora, Language Teaching Research, and System, among others. She received her Ph.D. in applied linguistics from Northern Arizona University. Prior to joining TTU, she has taught at Syracuse University and Northern Arizona University.
