Hoyoon Jung

Hoyoon JungHoyoon Jung is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Sport Management. His research interests lie in the field of Sports Economics (e.g., Labor Issues in Sports, League Structure and Policy, Economic Impact, Computable General Equilibrium, and Behavioral Economics) and Sports Analytics (e.g., Team/Player Performance, Forecasting Model, and Machine Learning). His current research focuses on 1) wage discrimination based on individuals' demographic characteristics in the sports labor market, and 2) consumer demand determinants such as competitive balance and uncertainty of outcome in various sports contexts. He received his Ph.D. in Sport Administration with a minor in Research Methods and Applied Statistics from the University of Northern Colorado. He obtained his M.A. and B.A. in Economics and Finance and B.S. in Sports Industry from Hanyang University in South Korea. Prior to joining Texas Tech University, he was an instructor and graduate research assistant at the University of Northern Colorado (2017-2020) and a graduate teaching assistant at Hanyang University (2015-2017).
