Dr. Dannemiller is a proud three-time alum of Texas Tech University holding Bachelor of Science degrees in both Architecture and Civil Engineering and earned his Ph.D. in Wind Science & Engineering while a National Science Foundation IGERT Fellow. He currently serves as the Assistant Academic Dean for the Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering (WCOE), the academic first responder for WCOE, the head of recruiting for WCOE and the course coordinator for the Computational Thinking with Data Science program. Prior to his current role he was the course coordinator for first year programs in the WCOE, and the coordinator for several robotics programs serving elementary to high school students from El Paso to Ft. Worth, and from Amarillo to Midland/Odessa.
Dr. Dannemiller has served on various TTU and WCOE committees regarding recruiting, retention, curriculum development, COVID related activities, and he continues to advise school districts, first responders, and some city managers regarding facility safety and methods/campaigns targeted at risk mitigation. He has spent time as a consultant working in structural risk mitigation, designing facilities to withstand terrorist attacks, post event forensic analysis, designing refinery and processing facilities to mitigate personnel losses in the event of accidental explosions, and has been a part of a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) team that responded after hurricanes and tornadoes to assist first responders, map disaster regions to assist with logistical layouts and supply distribution campaigns, and investigate scientific topics specific to post disaster regions.
Dr. Dannemiller's current focus in education is on changes to engineering pedagogy to include more hands-on experiences utilizing programming, robotics, 3D modeling and drones. He leads the joint TTU Athletics and WCOE T-Shirt Launcher team you can see on the field at every home football and baseball games, and on the court at every home basketball game. At home he enjoys watching movies, traveling, hiking, camping, and playing games with his family. Dr. Dannemiller is a proud Red Raider through and through and is excited to serve the students here at Texas Tech achieve success now and well into their futures.
