"Renaissance Apocalypse: The End of the World at the Beginning of Modernity"
How did writers of the English Renaissance imagine the end of the world? This talk explores how widespread expectation of the biblical Last Judgment shaped early modern politics, as Thomas Hobbes, John Milton, and others labored to hasten Christ's coming and bring the nation into a long awaited reckoning.
Dr. Hackenbracht gave his talk on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. in English 201.
