Queer Medievalism in the U.S. South
Lunchtime Lecture Series with Dr. Tison Pugh, English Professor University of Central
Florida
Wednesday September 15
Noon (12:00-1:00 CT)
Registration Link: QUEER MEDIEVALISM
Hear Dr. Pugh talk about the tenuous connection between myth and reality in southern life and literature. The antiquated concept of medieval chivalry is often employed to suture over various fault lines of race, gender, and sexuality, yet it simultaneously exposes the queer tensions underneath many performances of white masculinity.
Tison Pugh is the author or editor of over twenty books. His recent books include
On the Queerness of Early English Drama: Sex in the Subjunctive and Chaucer's Losers, Nintendo's Children, and Other Forays in Queer Ludonarratology, as well as the edited collection Queering the South on Screen.
